|
In this study, I investigated the relationship between spousal bereavement and suicide rate in Korea based on province-level data from 1991-2017. I also examined whether the relationship differed depending on demographic characteristics such as sex and ages. A dynamic panel model was used to control the states dependence and unobserved heterogeneity. The results of the analysis differed by sex and ages. Spousal bereavement rates were positively and significantly related to suicide rates for old males, but no significant association was found for females and males under age 60.
